10 Great Kitchen Gadgets for Healthy Cooking By: Erin Rogers
Being prepared can often mean the difference between being able to whip up a simple, healthy meal or resorting to fast food or the delivery man. The desire to eat healthy food makes quick preparation a bit more difficult than simply boiling up some macaroni and cheese with hotdogs and frozen peas. But, with a little planning, you can make it much easier to quickly prepare a delicious and nutritious meal.
Here are some of my favorite gadgets for quick and healthy cooking:
1. Small and large nonstick skillets (you'll use nearly every day)
2. Several different sizes of glass measuring cups (for quick and easy measuring)
3. Sharp knives (a godsend!)
4. Blender (great for whipping up sauces, dressings and smoothies)
5. Food processor (also great for shredding, and making sauces, dressings)
6. Steamer basket (super-quick and healthy vegetable preparation)
7. Pasta pot with drainer lid (make pasta with less dishes)
8. More than one cutting board (so you don't have to wash between chopping meat and veggies)
9. Gas or charcoal grill (many healthy grill recipes)
10. Large ziploc bags for marinating (quick prep and quicker cleanup!)
If you' have great tools to work with, cooking becomes easier and even fun! So, invest in some quality equipment and the use it to create great healthy dishes in a flash.

Gadget Exchange Game - A Great Way to Trade Kitchen Gadgets
Do you have gadgets in your kitchen that you don't like, haven't used in a long time, or no longer have any use for? The old saying "one man's junk is another's treasure" also holds true in the kitchen. If you don't process strawberries anymore, someone else could make great use of that strawberry huller - leaving room in the drawer, for the gadget you've always wanted!
I've come up with a game that would add great fun to an annual cookie exchange or a wedding shower. Follow the rules below, and have fun with it.
What's the risk? Nothing! Since you didn't want your gadget anyway - you've nothing to lose. What's to gain? One you do like or have need of. There is no cost to play, nothing to buy.
There should be no consideration of the value of your gadget, since an item of no use to you, is valued at zero! Actually, ugly, partially worn gadgets just add more fun to the game.
Gadget Exchange Game
Each guest brings a (non-electric)kitchen gadget they do not want or use, for whatever reason.
On arrival, each person adds their name to a 'drawing' basket. Have small papers and pens ready for this purpose.
Gadgets are placed on display, amid remarks like: 'What's that?', or "I want one of those!".
Game begins when names are drawn, and guests pick a gadget from the display, until all names and gadgets are gone.
You can add a 'surprise' twist to the game by announcing: "Now, pass your gadget to the person on the right (or left)."
Object of the Game
Everyone gets a 'new' gadget to try out! And if someone doesn't like theirs - they can always keep it to bring to their next Gadget Exchange!

Features drive kitchen gadget evolution by Mike Duff
The trouble with the gadget business today is that you always have to do yourself one better. Manufacturers and retailers are trying to do that with products that are easier to use, easier to employ-a different consideration-and more stylish looking.
All that has to be accomplished with an eye on price. Kitchen gadgets was among the first categories Wal-Mart revised in its efforts over the past couple of years to remerchandise its home assortment.
"Our focus had been on delivering better quality, more features and better styling of goods to our customers without raising the price," said Melissa Berryhill, a Wal-Mart spokeswoman. "In fact, we have rolled back the prices on over 100 of the items in this category over the last six months."
Audrey Schlaepfer, evp and cmo of Linens 'N Things, said rapidly evolving, feature-driven categories such as kitchen gadgets require equal parts innovation and cooperation.
